Adriaan De Koster

The Belgian tenor Adriaan De Koster started his music studies after obtaining degrees in economics and arts management at the universities of Leuven and Antwerp. He studied with Marianne Vliegen and Lieve Jansen in Leuven, and with Andrew Schroeder in The Hague.   


As a soloist he sang many cantatas, Magnificat and the evangelist and aria’s in the Passions of J.S. Bach, as well as Messiah, L'Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato, Dixit Dominus en Chandos Anthem 11 of Haendel. He performed the tenor solo part in the Vespro della Beata Vergine (Monteverdi), Membra nostri Jesu (Buxtehude) and the Marcus passion (Keiser) as well as playing the role of Florville in Rossini's “Il Signor Bruschino”. With the Octopus Soloists he took part in the musical theatre production of Almschi. 


Next to his solo work, he also is an ensemble singer. He has sung many concerts with Currende and La Petite Bande and works regularly with the Flemish Radio Choir. He is part of the gregorian group Psallentes and did several projects with ensembles as Vox Luminis, Graindelavoix, Pygmalion and Nieuw Nederlands Vocaal Ensemble. Since this year, he is singing with Huelgas ensemble. 


In this way, Adriaan De Koster has had the opportunity to work with many interesting conductors like Erik Van Nevel, Masaki Suzuki, Hervé Niquet, Richard Egarr, Phillippe Herreweghe and Sigiswald Kuijken. 


In masterclasses, he has had great experiences with Janette Fischer, Anna Nativitade, Christophe Prégardien en Maarten Koningsberger.
